About this tool
Many websites limit uploads to 1 or 2 MB. Compress PDF re-saves each page as an optimized picture, which can cut the size of scanned documents and photo-heavy files dramatically. Because pages become pictures, this is best for scans rather than text documents you still need to select or search.
How to use it
- Choose the PDF you want to make smaller.
- Select a compression level. Start with Recommended and try Strong if the file is still too big.
- Select Compress PDF, compare the sizes, and download the result.
Questions and answers
Will I still be able to select text?
No. Each page is saved as an image, so text can no longer be selected or searched. Keep your original for that.
Why did my file get bigger?
The original may already be well optimized. Try the Strong level, or keep your original file.
How small can it get?
It depends on the content. Scanned pages often shrink by 70 percent or more.
